Lymphoma

Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that affects white blood cells in the lymphatic system.
It affects white blood cells called lymphocytes a very important part of your immune system.
The two main types of lymphoma are Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin, Hodgkin lymphoma is more
common in people between 15 and 34 years old or over 60. Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is more
common in older people over 60.

Types of non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma:
Accounts for about 1 out of every 3 lymphomas. This particular cancer most occures in older people
Average age at the time of diognosis is mid-60s. This is considered a fast-growing aggressive cancer.
However it often responds well to treatment, overall 3 out of 4 people show no signs after the first

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma has a 5 year relative survival rate. This rate depends on different factors
such as the patients age, the stage of the llymphoma and wheather or not the lymphoma is in organs outside
of the lymph system.
